Brian's flute woes

Brian has been trying to buy himself a flute on eBay, but everything seems to get in his way. He wants to replace his old silver-plated Selmer (which he also got on eBay, for $37.00) with a professional sterling silver flute. Anyway, he won an auction for a decent one and sent his payment, but the seller claimed that before he could get it shipped, the flute was run over by a car! I found that hard to believe - I think someone offered him more money for it. Then Brian found an inexpensive wooden Irish flute and won that auction - it was chewed by a dog! A third, much more expensive flute is supposed to be on its way now. I'll believe it when I see it.

A poll for my blog ...

I've wasted the last couple of hours trying to add a poll to my blog. Two of the ones I tried sent respondents to another site (I don't want that), one of them allowed people to respond over and over, and one was impossible to set up. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for a good, basic blog poll? Please let me know.

Ren Faire News

I heard some interesting news today - could be good or bad, depending on your point of view. Apparently, San Bernardino County officials and the owners of the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Devore are making plans to dissolve their contract. If this goes through, there will be no Ren Faire in Devore this year. You can read the article in today's San Bernardino Sun. As you can guess, a lot of people are in a tizzy about this. However, there are several smaller fairs that will be going on around the same time, and these may benefit from the decrease in competition. I know I plan to spend more time at the Koroneburg Festival in Corona this year.

I will post more information as it comes along. I'm a lurker on several Ren Faire Yahoo groups, and there's a lot of activity there right now. Nothing is set in stone right now, and it's possible that the involved parties could iron out their differences between now and April - after all, it would be a big loss of revenue for the county.

It's a New Year!

Anyone out there making New Year's resolutions? Here's a few of mine:

1. Get more exercise (if I can find the time)
2. Get rid of some of the junk around here
3. Read my Bible daily
4. Finish all my current knitting projects
5. Knit 5 more pairs of socks (my favorite thing to knit - shouldn't be too hard)
6. Play my ukuleles more, especially since I got a new one for Christmas

Plus a few others that I'm not gonna post since I probably won't follow through with them anyway.
